Hey guys/gals,
Did a quick search and didn't find anything so I thought I'd make a new thread.
I acquired a Savage 93R17, standard stainless barrel with the black synthetic stock. I started looking at Boyds and other places for laminate stocks and they have different options for stocks between the standard and heavy barrel models. Unfortunately all the stock options for the standard barrel are ugly as sin. (I'm looking for a BVSS model equivalent)
Anyway, question is: Will a heavy barrel stock mount up to my gun with the standard barrel? I took some measurements on my receiver and the stud spacing is the same according to the data given on Boyds website. I'm aware that the heavy barrel is a slightly larger diameter (approx 1/8" larger) between the receiver and end of foregrip so there may be a bit bigger gap there which I'm ok with. Since it is a floating barrel this won't affect performance, just aesthetics. My only concern is if there are any differences in the receivers between the heavy and standard barrel models (can't see that there would be)
Has anyone tried this or know if it will mate up properly? Just doing my due diligence before i order a stock only to have to ship it back.
P.S. I've only put just shy of 50 rounds through this gun and already I absolutely love it!
Thanks,
Pat
