Savage 93R17 TR

A good friend of my has the TR, and loves it. I almost bought a TRR to get that cool-looking rail, but then had a look at them first hand. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I had a look at it right beside a CZ 453 Varmint in .17 HMR, and chose the CZ instead.

The stock on the TR is like a textured black paint, reminded me of Rhino bed liner used in pick-ups. The metal looked bead blasted, but I couldn't tell whether the finish was painted or something else. Looked pretty cool/business like. The only disappointment with the Savage (IMHO) was that the fluting in the barrel was so shallow that it must have been done for aesthetics only. It's a different animal than the CZ and until that moment, didn't consider myself a sucker for blued steel and walnut! Can't imagine the TR NOT being a sweet .17 HMR rifle to own, I've never shot a Savage rimfire that WASN'T a good shooter.
