Savage 99 300 lever -a good deal?

I was presented with a Savage 99 300 lever for $550. I am trying to get serial to run age but looks older, although in quite good condition. Is that a good price?

It is a Model 99 EG. Does it have a brass rotor? The tang sight is worth around 200.00 plus. Great hunting rifle and great cartridge. 550.00 is a very fair price.

Look for cracks in the stock behind the tang or on each side of it, they are prone to cracking there! 300 savage is a really nice cartridge! Case design was way ahead of its time!

Without the rear sight it’s the going rate for rifle. The sight is $150 by itself. I’d buy the rifle for that price.
