Savage 99 or Browning Lever - help me decide

Thats awesome , I was just messen around hoping to ruffle up some fun. The Savage is very cool, and cycles like its on ice.
Remember a movie, a western where this guide had an engraved Savage, forget the name, sure some folks remember it, what a sweet rifle in that movie

There are fine ones out there, 71, and 86 very nice, love the 92, but they all have that same vertical hold flat sided feel, BLR same, well maybe the wood helps here.
But the savage is more like a bolt gun feel, and this adds stability for the hunter with those offhand shots.
And looking down the barrel of one, that rifling spells excellent Cast bullet accuracy. Lyman 173gr FP gc awesome,

Neither one! Buy Winchester mod 88 and forget the other crap! I used them before. Savage 99 locks in rear with exesive headspace after much use, brass separations as a result etc. Browning has problems with gearing skipping, just ask any gunsmith. I bought Win mod 88, then 2 more of them and never had any problems, not even heard of any one complaining about them. Regards; Roman.

It's a lunchbox special.
The reciever and buttstock are model R and the barrel is off an F. Parts gun? Not sure but it didn't come from the factory that way.
No experience with the browning but I sure like my 99s in .300 sav.

I like them all. But I do think if you like full wood lever guns, you owe it to yourself to try the 88 Winchester, and the Sako Finwolf, if you can find them.
I own both, 99's in 300 and 38-55, and a BLR in 358. I prefer the 99. - dan

Only saw that on the net. I suppose somebody inexperienced (like me) may have made the purchase without closer verification. Although I doubt there will be any inexperienced folks among those who prefer those rifles.
Wonder if you noticed that Savage commemorative .308 with octagonal bbl that Williams Arms had a couple weeks ago? That got sold fast.

To me they're a sales pitch. A knock off that isn't even close to the real thing. The original 1895 was chambered ONLY in 303 Savage yet Savage makes a commemorative in 308 Winchester? 24" barrels when the originals had 26". Why couldn't they have made it a little closer to the original if they were gonna fill it full of brass anyways? It's not like someone is gonna be taking it out into the bush shining like that.
Nothing but a sales ploy to make money off people. Savage Arms made a big mistake with that gun or whoever designed it.

I have at one time or other owned the Browning,Winchester 88, and 99 all in .308win. I like the 99 the best. The Browning had the smoothest action but I didn't like the extrenal hammer. I found it difficult with heavy gloves on. The 99 and 88 both have the interal firing pin however I like the trigger on the 99 best. I'd love to get a Finnwolf if ever I could find one.
