Had a discussion with gun club members and one mentions seeing one of these in the past.
First question that popped into my mind was which rifle caliber bolt face was needed to fit the .410 case rim?
Seems .410 rims will go into a .303Br shell holder, but can't find any mention of 99s chambered and having boltfaces for .303Br, e.g. lee #5 shellholder.
303 Savage is a different size, Lee #11.
300 Savage is Lee #2.

Anyone know? Did they have a bolt face specifically for the .410?

Savage would make you whatever combination you could afford. A 99 bolt face is basically flat as are other levers, not recessed like bolt actions are. Probably the most common combination was the .300/410.

Thank you. That makes sense. The extractor must have a lot of movement. Never had a lever action but the 99 would've been the one if I had the opportunity.

Ive come close to buying 3 sets but as im not a fan of the 99 i let others who actually wanted them buy them. The 410 barrels go for rediculous amounts.

I hae nothing against the 99s caftmanship or engineering. They just dont appeal to me

This is the standard cased set made up till 1934, $81.95 then I would be guessing what today $4500?? Today this set would probably sell for twice that amount. (file photos) I'm not that lucky!166871904_613NZMEV.jpg
