So, I have a Savage 99F and I am trying to figure approx what it's worth. It's lever boss stamp is a U so it was made in 1967.
Chambered in .243, there is a little bit of blueing rubbed off the barrel where the front sight was. Most of the finish is not to bad but has some light pitting in places and a patina over most of it. The wood looks nice, sights are removed but have screw in plugs threaded into the holes.
No ammo counter but it has the rotary mag.
The gun shoots great and the insides and bore are nice.
I will try to get some close up pictures up tomorrow.

Looks like a 99E to me as well. Hardwood stock, light wood, cheesy impressed checkering and someone put a forend cap on it. You might get $400 out of it in my area only because it is a .243, less if it were .308 or .300 Savage. My 2 cents.

Yep, definitely an E.

The giveaways even before the stock was the lever safety, everything after 1960 had a tang safety except for the E's. Also the lack of a counter which only the E's came without. Never seen an E with that black capped forearm before either, someone painted that on there.
