Savage 99A, .250-3000 strikes again. Picture added.

Aw jeez you guys! I have a 1950 Model 99 with tip-off mounts and a cheap scope I was thinking of selling. Now I'm going to have to try it out. I always liked the lore attached to some of the old "classic" rifles and calibres. As of the past few years, my whitetail rifle has been a '94 in .32 Winchester Special. Maybe next year it will be either .250 Savaga e or .303 Savage. (I have a 1913 Model 1899 in .303).:p:p

Good story about a neglected round. Here's another one,my grandfather used to tell me about the first .250/3000 he ever saw. A local man bought one back in the 20's when a lot of bigbores were still in use and a .30/30 was considered a small bore. The old men around the village took one look at the tiny case and bullet and pronounced it a needle gun.
Those were the days of big families and shooting game to feed them and my grandfather said that first fall the guy dropped nine deer and a moose with eleven rounds of ammo.
Nobody made fun of the little Savage after that.
