Hi gents, I'm taking a look at a friends Savage 99c in .308win that been misfiring randomly. Probably 1 in every 5 rounds. I've been using empty primed brass to check primer detonation and sure enough, every now and again I get a light strike on the primer that's not enough to detonate it.

I've had the blot apart and everything is free of dirt and well oiled.

Anyone have a similar issue with this rifles?

Striker fired bolts are notorious for weakening springs and this is no exception.
Wolff Gunsprings has SKU 30180 at $7.49 US and ships to Canada.
Had the joy of deep cleaning an inlaw's 1915 vintage in .303 Sav and the spring was brown caked to the striker.

This was my only thought as well, but it seems like Wolff isn't shipping internationally during covid. I removed the spring and it was 3-3/4in long. I stretched it to 4-3/4in and reinstalled it. No more light strikes.

This will have to do till I can order a new spring. At least I know what the issue is.

What about headspace. I had a similar problem when using reduced loads. I believe the shoulder was pushed back by repeated strikes of the firing pin on the primer, and the pressure being so low that the shoulder of the brass never formed back to chamber dimensions creating a headspace condition. Sizing did not help at all.
