Savage 99CD in 308....age?

Hi,

Serial number is C7242xx.

I checked it out on the Savage99.com website, and it said manufactured in 1951 or later.

Does this mean it was manufactured in 1951, or it could have been anytime froim 1951 until the end of production for that model?

The guy I bought it from said he thought his dad got it 50 years ago.

Any info would be appreciated.

Look on the front of the lever. There should be a small circle with a letter in it. The letter will correspond to year of manufacture. If you check on the 24hour campfire there is a section there for Savage collectors and some one there should be able to tell the date from the lever boss code. Hope this helps. Bac4

DOM 1978. The CD was manufactured from 1975 - 1980. It will be a few years before it is 50 years old.

It's a 99, i guess that's what counts. Nice rifle, it's definately been used but in descent shape.

Can't wait to get it to the range.
