Savage 99F with rotary mag problem

Hi guys,

Can someone tell me if its normal that I'm having a hard time loading the first bullet in the rotary mag (I just got the rifle from a friend). It's as if the rotary spool is not align properly for the first round, After that its a breeze to load the next 4.

Any thoughts ?

I think it's normal. They can be a little finicky on how you present the first round. Do you have good spring pressure on the rotor?

Ya, it's normal in some of the 99's. I have a 99R in 300 Sav that is a bugger to get the first round started as well.
