Bought this rifle on sale and received it today. loaded it into car, and was shooting it 10 minutes later at my homemade range, up the hill beside my house. It performed flawlessly with cheap bulk ammo , and the factory sights was spot on.Extremely accurate, and with a nice trigger pull[3.5 lb.] as well.It shot as well as my Remington 597hb, and showed it's superiority over the brand new Marlin XT purchased at the same time. The Marlin's sights are pathetic and cheaply made, and out by a barn door in accuracy.Probably the first of many Savages , but the last Marlin I ever buy.The synthetic Stock fits my hand on the Savage like a glov,e but the rifle is clearly designed for optics and it is hard to adjust yourself to the stock with the open sights.I wasn't over fond of the 10 round rotary magazine, but intend to purchase a 25 round magazine to replace it.It is hard to load but performed flawlessly once loaded. No misfires or FFF or eject from a new gun out of the box.Shot about 150 rounds total, all federal HV bulk.Going tomorrow to try some target ammo, to print some paper, at 100 yards.

Mine says manufactured in Lakefield and Imported by Savage in Westfield MA. They probably put the same stamp on all the guns and some stay here and some go there. It is nice to buy a neat little gun made in Canada.

It's possible I didn't read it properly, and most likely your correct. We all can sit by the fireside at night and read our guns .That used to be a Ruger joke.It surprised me how accurate it was.I'm used to more expensive guns like BRNo's, and Brownings, and this A22 can easily keep up with them.Going to try some glass on it next, and lighten the trigger.

While purchasing isn't in the immediate plans...I'm interested in handling one of the new bolt guns. A HB Savage B series in 22WMR could be a decent little close range varmint gun.

They are made in Lakefield Ontario about 10 minutes from my home. I was on the tour last summer through their factory and can confirm that they were indeed being manufactured here. ;)

Very Friendly folks there too! :D

The fact that it's manufactured in my province is the reason I will buy a b22 over any other for my first 22lr. Sure I'll still buy a Anschutz later but feel a strong need to take care of our own first.

Does Lakefield make the Mark II barrels in house? The design is really accurate for the price. A tubular receiver and a good barrel with accutrigger makes for a good base platform.

There seems to be a shortage of those 25-rounders in Canada, sadly? :yingyang:

I've got the A17 and a bunch of the Butler Creek mags for it. I'm extremely happy with the reliability and accuracy of the rifle and the magazines are a great compliment.

I saw that Jo Brook (site sponsor) had 25 round mags a month or so ago.
