I finally got out to the range today to try out my recently purchased Savage 10 Precision Carbine.
It's in .223 and has sat in my safe for a few months due to playin' and tinkerin' on my growing pile
of lever guns. Can't help it, I've almost switched over bigtime on levers.

Anywho, after using up 20 shots of Winchester "white box" 55 gr. FMJ, I now know what my friend
was talking about when I first showed him the rifle. He said " Those guns are so accurate you'll get
bored."

I know what he meant, and can now hardly wait to load up some 69 gr. Sierras to see what this
bugger will do. Today's group was at 130 yds. and I had to wait between wind gusts to do 'er.
Typical at our range though at this time of year. I ain't bored though....just warming up.:)

Note the date I wrote on the target though.... When yer retired, the real date means ####-all!;)

As long as you are happy with the accuracy it is all good. Vaguely recall my Tikka T3 hunter had similar accuracy with REM ammo.

Folks at the precision forum has the 100m challenge of five 5 shot group under 1/2" (1/2 MOA). Still haven't been able to do that with my TRG, always that flyer.

Winchester 'White Box" ammo

Yeah, you might find the Win 'white box' 45 gr JHP that comes in the 40 round bulk packs might shoot even better in yer Savage.

Has worked real well in a couple of bolts I have in .223 [Rem 700 bull barrel & Rem Model 7 with 24" Rem 700 sporter barrel]

Nice shooting, i cant stop to be amazed by that WWB 45 gr ammo, for a low food chain round, it always been a performer...
3 years ago with my Benelli MR-1, got a sub half MOA with that WWB ammo... JP.

I've posted this in past, but, after seeing the accuracy my Daughter and SIL got with their 112BVSS Savages in 22-250, I opted for one in 25-06. I put decent glass on it and with virtually my 1st batch of reloads, :DI wasn't disappointed.

'Bang for the buck',:) hard to beat.

...never thought that highly of new savage bolt actions until a neighbour here got one in 30-06 a year ago...and it was moa out of the box with factory loads...ya know i've had to repent and crow never tastes good

My cheapo Model 11 in .243 with no accutrigger and the bargain basement Bushnell scope shot a 5/8" three shot group at 110 yds. with my 58 gr. Hornady reloads the other day. The barrel was hot, the forestock was on a rest, and the butt was unsupported other than being snug against my shoulder and I had my elbows resting on the bench. No great shakes compared to the pics posted here, but a testament to the accuracy of Savage rifles even under half-assed testing conditions.

Recently acquired a model11 in .223, again fr the price, I'm blown away at he groups....I guess the only wrench in the wheel is me...

I had a M10 in .243 that shot one hole groups pretty much every time out, fun but boring at the same time. I don have it anymore but my M16 7wsm puts 5 rounds into paper at 100meters into a 3/4 inch group whenever I feel the need to try.

What's the rifles rate of twist?
Pay heed to that when using those 69gr's.

If its 1 in 10 or faster you GTG.

My Savage 10 PC has a 1 in 9 twist and will stabilize bullets up to 77 gr. or so.
I'll be ordering up some decent brass for handloading though, because the cheap
crap that Winchester uses in the "White Box" loads is sub-par to say the least.

4 cases out of 20 showed nasty neck splitting like this one. To have this happen on
the first firing is bush!:(
