Savage AccuStock?

Nope, not my rifle. Unpacked it with the factory grease and had a look. We decided to move right away and do the bedding. Also, doing a camo job and bolt timing adjustment.

Bases should be arriving in a few days and I can get this rifle back to the owner for testing.

Is ther any difference between a accustock action and a centerfeed action other than the recoil lug and nut? Can I take an accustock with detachable magazine swap out the recoil lug and nut and install it in a centerfeed detachable magazine stock that isn't an accustock or vise versa?

wadedc, ALL Savage and Stevens actions are identical within the same gen and family except the trigger. They will fit the same stocks whether they have the alum chassis (accustock) or not.

You don't need to change anything to put a barreled action from any stock into any other stock (of the same gen)

I just picked up a Savage 12FVSS .22-250 it has their[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] dual pillar bedding do you think work will still need to be done to the bedding job?.......I haven't shot it yet maybe I should see how it shoots first before tinkering.......

Bedding will really help. right now, that action is suspended/balanced on two tiny contact spots - tops of the pillars. If you have a bad one, the recoil lug may not even be touching the mortise in the stock so all the recoil forces are transfered to the action bolts.

Despite this, you will likely get some decent accuracy but you may also get flyers. Not ideal for long term precision.

Once again, I ask on behalf of a buddy with an FCP in an A5: would you say the ideal setup would be to get pillar and glass bedding done to it? Is this something any joe blow smith can do, or is this a service a Savage specialist such as yourself is better off doing?

Redman, bedding for sure. Pillars will be dependent on the density of the stock and how easily it is compressed.

Bedding holds the action in place and really does the grunt work during recoil. The action bolts just make sure A&B don't separate and don't need alot of torque to work.

Can you do your own bedding, of course you can. The only difference between you and I is that I have already made my mistakes

With practise, you can be very good at this task. Just make sure you use lots of mold release so things come apart. If the bedding is not to your liking, grab a dremel and remove it. Start over.

Others don't have the interest to bother and prefer me to do it....that's fine.

Others want to learn and I am happy to help.

Either way, we end up with rifles properly bedded shooting their best.

that's a good thing.

Anybody wanna buy a left handed accustock? I didn't think so. That'll be the toughest sell ever.
