I'm having difficulty placing age (and approx. values) of 2 Savages and would be grateful for you input.
The first is a straight-stocked takedown I inherited. No evidence of a saddle ring, no checkering, old style safety, takedown model. It has a very faint letter "M" stamped near the front lever boss and the serial no is 2048xx. Made in Utica and chambered in .22 Hi Power. Redfield peep sight. I was left with some boxes of norma hunting rounds and brass. It is in reasonable shape and I'm in the pie-plate sized black on the range at 75 yards. The Hi Power cartridge looks fairly substantial when compared to .22 hornet.
Second is a much newer Savage, a long barrel with pistol grip, chambered in .300 Savage stamped "Ducks Unlimited", very good to excellent condition.
Thanks for your input.
