Savage American Classic

I went to a big box outdoors shop this week to look at a Savage American Classic in 30-06 (whats more american, and more classic than that?) and looked at the demo model with the person behind the counter.

The rifle he handed to me seemed to have been beaten up somewhat, the bluing did not look good, the stock was not was I expected but the biggest thing I noticed was that the rifle had a hinged floor plate and not a detachable mag. When I asked the clerk about the hinge plate he had told me that the website was wrong and that these only came in the hinged floor plate.

He also became tired of my questions and I decided to hand the rifle back to him and deal with someone else when it came time to purchase the firearm.

I had the money in my pocket ready to buy it but the person behind the counter completely ruined the entire experience, almost as bad as another big outdoors shop in the GTA.

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience with this rifle as the last one I saw did not live up to what I thought it was.

BS my dad has one although the location of the bolt stop realse is infront of the trigger gaurd

btw the one dad have which is a great rifle shoot slike a charm if i could only find a high end recoil absorbing pad

I have a Savage 114 American Classic in 3006. Detachable magazine, very nice walnut stock and highly polished bluing. Very nice rifle, cycles and shoots nicely.
