Just picked up a old 22. Its labeled anchutz...west germany etc. There is no model number, and the seller told me it was a savage. I would bet its at least early 70's vintage.

I realize that the thread is rather useless without photo's, but i got infected trying here before. So i am looking for anyone who is knowledgeable about older Anchutz sporters, and i will simply send photo's to your email.

Not a sale thing...just wanting info. Its got some rust, pitting, and wood dings. It is simply going to be a quad chicken/bunny gun to save a nicer gun the rough going.

Cheers

ANYONE ......send you a photo...give me a idea of what i have.

Well, first of all, you have to have patience. Your second post was less than three hours after your first one. Posing a question and expecting people to be just sitting around at their computers so that they can answer questions is a bit unrealistic.

Then, you have to give a better description of your rifle. Is it a single shot, bolt action magazine type repeater, or what?

While Savage and Anschutz did have a working Agreement, the Savage imported firearms were marked "Savage - Anschutz" in North America, and the Savage made firearms that were exported to Europe had "Anschutz - Savage" on them.

Many of the early Anschutz rifles were single shot rifles, intended for a low price market. Others were top grade target rifles with prices accordingly.

I am a bit curious as to how you got "infected" by trying to post photos here. There are lots of posts, threads and instructions on how to post photos on this Forum.

Anyways, if it does not say "Savage" on it, it probably is not a Savage.
.

Actually it was 8 days and 3 hours. No where does it say Savage, so perhaps it is a true Anchutz. Certainly not a up end 22, a entry level kids gun that i am hoping is perfect for a quad rifle.

I got infected by following the instructions in the sticky on posting pictures. Perhaps someone with more knowledge would not have been infected. I am simply not going back to several days of frustration trying that again.

Would you be willing to take a look at some photo's. Someone who is a collector or has owned a few of these might be able to ID the rifle very quickly and simply?? If so PM me with a email and i will send some photo's.

So i have my info.

I saw that the business: Nordic Marksman here on CGN sells Anschutz rifles. So i sent the info and description, proof markings to Brad at Nordic Marksman.

The little "chipmunk" rifle is a pre Model 1361 or 1357 with a Flobert 1 type action. Post 1955 by the Anshutz label and definitely a low grade...garden gun...boys rifle.

I think i got a good value in what i paid for it, and what it does for me. The real value will be in saving a nice gun from taking a beating at the hands of a kid or the alder monster thrashing on a Quad.

Thank you very much Brad.
