Hey, I'm thinking about getting a Savage Mark2-FVXP. Has anyone seen it, shot it, ect.? I'm looking for a good (and cheap) 22lr bolt action rifle. Any input would be great, all I've shot so far has been semi auto and I'm looking to change it up a little. Thanks.

me I had choice a mark II BV, after some modifiction I have a very accurate rifle (sub moa). I had changer the trigger sears for a rifle basix adjust at 3/4 pounds ands really crisp, I had change the cheap slippy butt plate for a pachymar, changed the cheap low base for the real weaver # 45, I used the burris signature ring and the offset insert for sighting the scope (the mind is to keep the reticule on the center of the optical) and I used a banner 6X18X50 AO scope.
The only bad thing with the f serie is the stock, is lower of the laminate one and if you use a big scope you will got some trouble to got a stable position for your chin when you shoot.

I bought my boys each a Savage Mark II, I think they are good reliable guns, haven't had any problems so far, I hope the triggers lighten up a little with wear though. They can knock the head off pretty much any gopher they point at.

Agreed. Get a savage. You can't find a better value. Especially now that they come in accutrigger for all the new rimfires (I'm waiting for the mark II FV w/accu that I ordered).

You can't go wrong with out-of-the-box accuracy with a Savage. I have several, from an old single shot 3B to new model 12 heavy barrel in .223 and I see no reason to look elsewhere.
This is not to say that there is not a more accurate rifle out there, but for the money and the no add-on hassle out-of-the-box, you will be hard pressed to beat them. The accutrigger is great. My old 3B hits what I aim at but it has a trigger like pulling a 200 pound roll of velcro across a shag carpet! It was a freebee so what the heck!

Savage is REALLY starting to make a name for themselves. I'd buy a few, cause I have a feeling they're going to start getting more expensive as they gain mindshare.
I LOVE my mark 2 BV. It's set up almost identically to matou2041's, right down to the optics. A MOA rimfire is almost unheard-of, especially in this price range. And now that they're adding accutrigger to the rimfires.... I'd have babies with it if I could

When I saw this I almost ####! I L-O-V-E the accu-trigger on my Savage 308. I am going to get their stainless heavy barreled 22mag sometime down the road.

MOA refers to Minute of Angle. It comes down to the number of clicks on your scope to adjust point of aim for a given distance.

A MOA is a minute of angle, for us is really simple that mean 1 inch at 100 yards, if we talk about scope we they say a 1/4 moa adjustment they mean every click move your cross hair from a 1/4" at 100 yards. For the accuracy is the same if we say a gun shoot under 1 MOA (submoa) that mean you can shoot 5 bullets group in less of a inch at 100 yards or less of 1/2" at 50 yards or less 1/4" at 25 yards or less of 2" at 200 yards, that more simple of giving the grouping and the distance every time.

i bought one of the mark 2's when my son was born in '04 kickin my self in the az caus eit didnt come with the acu-trigger then
now i gotta figure some way to get a new one or trade this one in lol
have only put mybe 50 rounds through it since i got it so i cant tell you how the accuracy is
