Savage Arms A22 LR cheers or jeers

I haven't seen that yet. I don't know how much different it would be in design from the A17. The A17 is fantastic. With the delayed blowback, it shoots accurate like a bolt action, but saves you all the hassle of fiddling with the action of a bolt. It's automatic. It's a treat.
The barrel & trigger are nice. I wish it had a nicer stock. They had the boyd stock versions too

I'm fairly certain they didn't bother with a delayed action for the .22 LR model

Savage themselves don't seem to say. I think the confusion might be coming from inadvertent reuse of marketing materials for the A22 Magnum and A17. Savage's naming for their new rimfire lines is kinda terrible.

Yes I wondered that.They just copied the same Info from the 22mag.
 
yeah I sort of regretted mentioning about my A17, cause the thread op was asking about the 22lr version. I was just happy about my A17 and still am, but i'm not sure how much the 2 caliber models have in common besides name. There's a price difference. I knew the delayed blowback is for the 17hmr. It could still be for the A22. It helps for accuracy and still cycles reliable when shot in a fast rate.
 
I fired 30 rounds (A17) last sunday just to check my zero. When I was done, I went to pick up my brass as it would have landed on the packed snow of the driveway and makes neat little tire coring punches....Well the brass cleared the driveway and ended up in a big snow drift in the yard, 40 feet from where I was shooting. Going to have to keep an eye on the side-blast area when shooting.
 
Recently I bought A22 in 22lr and not really satisfied with the quality. It looks cheap and feels cheap.May be I got a lemon, I dont know. I maid a photo of the chamber:

First time I see yellow "glue" or, I dont know what, around the barrel.
I didnt test it yet, because I was confused about scope mounts. For some reason A22 in 22 magnum goes with scope mounts, but 22lr doesnt. But I read in a couple reviews, that they got A22 in 22lr with weaver scope mounts. Anyway, I ordered Weaver #46 bases and will see it it will fit.
If somebody has this rifle as well, I will be really appreciated, if you will share your experience with this rifle.

The yellow stuff might be threadlocker? Out of curiosity, can you tell us the manufacturing information stamped on the gun and take a picture of the bolt?

Have you had any trouble with the rotary magazine? A couple reviews of the A22 on B22 on Rimfire Central mentioned difficulties getting the magazine to seat correctly for proper feeding.

Well, that picture solves the earlier question about whether it's straight or delayed blowback. It clearly doesn't have the A17 (and presumably A22 Magnum) locking mechanism on the top surface of the bolt.

Sucks to see they aren't made in CANADA. Y'all think Savage will eventually phase out production in Lakefield and focus on American made rimfires? At SHOT Show 2017, they said that their plan was to have both lines running simultaneously Mk and A/B Series. Doubt that will be a long term plan though.

I agree. I think the concurrent production is
a) A hedge against the A22/B22 being a flop - if either fail, Savage won't be driven out of the rimfire market
b) Taking advantage of the exchange rate (while it's working in their favour)

Anyone know if the Model 42 is made in Lakefield? My Stevens Favorite (Model 30) was, but I get the impression the gun was a slow seller even before it was OOP.
I can see the A22 replacing the Model 64 before the B22 replaces the Mark II though.
