My sister recently bought an old farm house and she came across a box of "30-30 Winchester & Savage"

The box is in near perfect condition considering that it must be at least 70 years old.
I tried googling "Savage Made Ammunition" but all that I came up with was a article about them making heavy munitions during WW2.
The box is missing one round because my brother inlaw took one to show his friends.
I have 2 questions about it.
1 How old is it? and 2 Is it worth anything or should I just put it through my Winchester next range trip?

Hello,
Savage made Ammo up to the 1950's, your box was made when they were in Utica NY which was pre 1950.
After that the boxes were made in Chicopee Mass. until they stopped making ammo and moved to Westfield Mass. were they still are.
If the box is complete with no writing etc. and with correct factory rounds, corrosion free, it's probably worth $60.00 - $80.00.

I'd say your box was made in the late 1940's.

Don't shoot it, it's worth more to a collector, let me know if you want to sell it.
