Savage Arms Mark II Safety Question

Just got a savage arms markII F bolt 22LR rifle.
I noticed the safety easily clicks to 'safe' but takes extra effort to push the tab to 'fire'.
Is this the norm with this safety. The first time I pushed the safety to 'fire' I thought it was stuck and really had to push it off.

Mine is harder to push into the fire position than the safe position as well.

That's normal. And don't be surprised when you find that you wiped it to "SAFE" when you rack the bolt. It's easily done without even feeling it.
