Looking for some facts as I'm considering buying a Savage in 270. I have heard from many they swear by their accuracy. Is there truth to their accuracy and what models are better worse. Looking for sporter not a heavy barrel as I will be using it for hunting.

oh ya it is true i have a comp stock 30-06 111 with accu trig and it is a true 1 moa rifle. and my little 22 heavy barrel is close to a 1/2 moa in good conditions.

For the last while I have been shooting a heavy barrel Savage .308 along side a Rem. 700 Heavy barrel .308, both are stock, using cast bullets(what else), I have worked up the most accurate loads for each rifle. These are both accurate rifles and one will be used in CBA benchrest matches in the stock class, the other will be converted to a 30Br. So far the Remington is more accurate, your results may vary!

I had a .300 win mag (116 fcss) that put my amatuer handloads (200 gr accubonds) into .82 inches at 100 yards. That was using a lead sled with a 9 power scope. I am sure I could have scored better If I had better skills. I have several friends that achieve similar or better accuracy with their .270, .30-06, and .243 savages. For the price, they pretty much are all shooters.
