I have a couple questions, regarding the Axis. I just bought a new 22-250 Savage Axis (Trade for my POS Handi-Rifle), and I really want to put it into a Boyd's Thumbhole stock, but Boyd's doesn't offer them yet. Now, I understand the recoil lug is integral to the composite Axis stock. Im wondering which savage stock Boy'ds offers would be the closest layout to the axis? Magazine well MUST be considered as well. If they offer something that is basically ready to fit, minus the recoil lug issue, Im sure I can work that out. Would the Boyd's Savage Model 10 stock basically work?
Another thing I may consider, is changing the thin lightweight BBL out as well, for something more along a heavy contour if I do a stock swap. Would I be able to use any heavy Savage 22-250 BBL? as it uses savages easy barrel change "system".
Also, Does the Savage Axis 22-250 use a "long action"? The bolt looks awlful long..... ;-)
