I check for a bolt action gun with scope combo around 500$ in 308.

The axis II is a little bit lighter than the trophy hunter.
Except 100$ of difference between these 2 guns what is the difference?
Is this trophy hunter worth the price?

Both have :
Accutrigger
22" carbon steel barrel
1:10 twist rate
detachable box magazine (4 Rounds)
Synthetic sotck
Nokia 3x9x40 scope (I think)

I went through the same questions. I believe the only difference is that the trophy hunter has a little bit better of a action. But I could be wrong. I figured its not like I'm going to be shooting even 500 rounds a year so I saved myself a hundred bucks and bought some other ammo and goodies :) I like my savage 2. Better trigger and scope than my axis. Only thing is that the magazine is a bugger to get in. I'm a little worried it's just going to snap when I go out in November.

I've never owned an Axis, but have a few 10/110s and I think they are a great value. Most other manufacturers have copied it as well.

The action is much smoother in the 111 and the stock is also not as flimsy, being heavier on the handgrip and foregrip. I have a weaver kaspa on the 111 which is a better scope than the bushnell on the axis.

Get the 11 so when you decide to build a custom you already got an action.

Just picked up a trophy hunter XP myself, then went looking online at custom stocks and a lot of them have a warning saying "Will not fit new Savage Rifles with bolt release in the trigger guard"

Not sure if the same issue exists for the axis II.

Go on Boyds and you will find a sweet stock shipped for less than $200 bucks, I purchased my Model 11 through SFRC in 223 and its quite accurate. Also got my Law Enforcement Series model 10. BOOM

Most stock mfrs make stocks for both center feed and staggered feed models.

savage 111 has a floating barrel, verses the axis, only difference would be if there you were to put 100 rounds through it the axis II would heat up at little faster effecting the accuracy, but you would never put 100 rounds through your rifle when your deer hunting other then that they are pretty much identical
