Savage Axis in .243

That's pretty awesome if it's the truth. I can't stand a "heavy" trigger and always wiggle way too much to achieve that kind of accuracy off a bipod, wish I could though.

The trigger on my Axis is better than any stock Remington 700 trigger I've shot by far. Mine breaks clean at 4lbs which is perfect for me (for a hunting rifle maybe, for a target gun it might be a little heavy). Came this way out of the box. Like I said, after sighting the gun in at 100 I took it out and on my second shot hit a golf ball at 200, would have been the first but I over estimated the amount of bullet drop.

Between the cost of .223, cost of the Axis, and the performance of the Axis... why haven't you already? :p

Mostly because I'm working poor and feeding a family.

Mind you I sold off my Milsurps so I do have some wiggle room in the safe. ;)

But I would have to trade something... Oh dear, lol. :D

My Axis trigger is perfect. Zero creep and clean 4 lb. break.

The bolt is slick and smooth. Being a lefty using a RH gun means no pinched thumb.

Looks are subjective but I love looking at the 5/8" group my .223 Xp shoots.

In a world where you have a.22lr AR clone selling for $300 the scoped Savage is $350. If the Savage isn't a steal what is?

I'm hitting buy now when I find a .308 stainless Axis at one of my preferred dealers.

Well I'm back to report, I like my Axis!

I even have the stock scope that comes part of the package on it! I've abused that scope to try and make it go out so I have a valid reason to buy a new scope but I just can't. I have nothing bad to report on this rifle....

every trigger I've used on a new Remington 700 was worse than what is in my Axis. Granted these were all "hunting" 700s and not Precision 700s.

Just took my second Axis out to the range last weekend. The one thing I will say is the trigger is much better that the first Axis bought. It is still a poor trigger, but I will leave it as is. This gun is a 7mm-08 in a youth stock for the wife to shoot. It is not as accurate as the 223 I own, but I just started loading for it. I bought it without a scope and put a Nikkon Prostaff 2x7x32 on it with low rings. Makes it a real nice compact gun for the wife to learn on.

Well took my axis out again. 350 yards. Put three rounds into 1.50".

And yes I'm still running the "crappy" stock scope the gun came with :p

Federal Blue Box, 100gr

I love my axis chambered in 223,personally i do not find the trigger too bad but i am relatively green
Flex noticeable when chambering a round but i shoot off a bipod so really not a issue.
End of the day for the money accurate out of the box goodness

A 100 gr 243 round is not in the same class as a 117gr from a 25/06. However I don't hold anything against the 243 but I prefer the extra punch of the old 25/06.
I've been toying with the idea of a 30/06 stainless axis as a backup rifle in camp and as a loaner rifle for new hunters. I personally don't like their feel or looks but can't argue about how they shoot. Everyone I've shot grouped fantasticly

I just finished replacing the trigger spring on my axis 223. It breaks now at 2 lbs 12 ounces. Finally finished, Homemade stock, Barrel cut to 19 1/4 inches and now the trigger. Maybe try it at the range tomorrow

I am the same as you 1000yards,I check constantly for stocks.Other than that ugly stock I love mine and don't. Find the trigger bad at all.I did switch scopes as I wasn't happy with the stock scope though.
