Hello everyone, I'm new here. I'd like to hear a specialist's opinion on the Accu Tregger system? Thank you.

I've got 3 rifles wit Accutrigger. 2x 22LR and a Sav 12 in 308. all 3 shoot ca MOA accuracy BUT I've adjusted the triggers to the lightest possible pull while staying 'Bump-safe'. And I 'polished' all the 'friction points' of the action to make it waaayy smoother than OEM. OEM is still Very Good, but I prefer a lighter trigger than is attainable 'out of the box'. There are YT vids and forum threads describing the process of 'lightening' the Accutrigger; Not a difficult job but you need to be precise and careful so you don't make it 'Un-Safe'.

I don't know if it's just me but I have never been enthralled or over the moon about the Savage Accutrigger. I have a Axis II XP (also in .308) and I really don't see the draw. I had an Axis II Precision a few years back ( in .223) and I didn't find the trigger any better. It wasn't heavy, it wasn't light - I just did not see the benefits - I did tune the Axis II one and lightened it but I have since sold the gun. I have a Savage .22 with Accutrigger - it was light enough for me I never bothered adjusting it. Then again, my tolerance for rough triggers is pretty high.

I just bought a CZ 600 Alpha and pretty impressed that you can adjust the trigger out of the box with just a hex tool between four (4) trigger weights without taking anything apart.

Have you shot an Axis WITHOUT the accutrigger? You'd understand the appeal if you have... mine was 7lb or more before I replaced the spring...

OP I have the original Axis, so no accutrigger on that, but i also have two Mark IIs with accutrigger. The accutrigger is great for a cheap gun. I was at the range with a few of my 22s (a marlin and a Winchester, both semis, and one of my Mark IIs) and the accutrigger makes the other ones feel very heavy even though they're like 4lb triggers.

Is it as good as a Timney or TriggerTech? God no. But it's better than a lot of factory triggers at that sort of price point (although a lot of other companies have stolen the accutrigger design, so most budget bolt action rifles have something like it these days.)

No, I have not. Any Savage I have had (which doesn't mean all, just the ones I had) in the last 20 years has had Accutrigger. May look for an older gun or one that doesn't have it to check it out.

I wouldn't spend money on one just to try it lol

But maybe next time you're in a gun store you can ask if they have one that you can dry fire just to get an idea. Very clearly some lawyers at work with that trigger weight lol

The idea was so good that Mossberg, Ruger, and Remington have all copied the idea for their budget guns... Although that means one of the selling points of the Axis 2 (good trigger for the price) isn't really unique to the platform anymore.

The accutrigger is good, most manufacturers have followed the Savage lead. I have owned only one Axis-bought it as my son's first deer gun, it is not as good as the 110 design , I would save up awhile and skip the Axis altogether if you can. Son bought a Tikka in 270, better gun than both IMO, and I bought one in .308 for myself. Good luck with your choice.

Never tried an axis with accutrigger, but I shot a Remington and a Mossberg and I don’t see the appeal either, maybe I don’t understand it, I thought it was just safety thing, I didn’t know it was part of a light trigger pull… or is it…. Anyway I have a cz600 lux and I can tell you that it has a really nice trigger on that thing, easy to adjust and I think better than my Timney trigger I have on my 458.

Idk. Think mines great i think , 25-06

.308” 3 shot group at 100 with 87 gr handloads

.735” same at 200.

2nd centerfire savage ive owned. First was a 22-250 predator 10 or something model. Both tacky
The Axis is damn accurate, there's no doubt about that. Despite owning a bunch of rifles since then, the Axis is still the gun I've shot the best groups with.

It's a lighter pull, and significantly so. My Axis was ~7lb when I bought it (now sits around 4.5lb cause i swapped the spring), whereas the accutrigger on my Mark2 is like 2.5-2.75lb.

When I shoot my Axis now I often think I've still got the safety on - and that's not even a stock Axis trigger lol

Since winter and not much shooting. Looking forward to the spring and blooding my savage

Have in truck though. Imma go check the trigger via dryfire now but I don’t remember it being a thing to me. And im very fussy when comes to triggs

Just get the XP (non-acutrigger) and then install a Mcarbo trigger kit.
XP is the designation for a scope package. Both the regular Axis and Axis II come in XP variations (as do many other models.)

Interestingly, I don't see the Axis outside of an XP model on Savages website. I wonder if you can't get the regular Axis without a scope anymore.

What do you call a specialist? Cause I highly doubt you will find any of those on this forum. 🤷‍♂️

I've had a couple of Savage with the Accutrigger but I've never owned an Axis model.

I currently have a Precision Carbine in 308 and honestly that version of the Accutrigger is as good as any of the target triggers and modified target triggers I have on other rifles. I am pretty picky about a good trigger and the one on my PC Carbine is damn excellent. I've had the rifle for at leas 15 years and have never had the urge to fiddle with that trigger.

Anyway that is my experience with the Accutrigger YMMV.
