Hi folks, just picked up a used Axis bolt action in .223. The base and rings it had on it were mediums and didn't raise the scope high enough to keep the glass from resting on the barrel. Any suggestions for a proper setup for my wife's new to her rifle would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Get a smaller scope.

While a 50mm scope does look cool to some, it's size requires high rings and will hinder the shooter in quick/proper eye placement. The EE is full of nearly new 50mm scopes.

Get a set of high rings?

I will be keeping a close eye on this thread, i'm mounting a similar scope on a Stevens 200.

x2 ^^^like he said get a set of high rings. I like the 50mm for the light gathering at those last minutes of daylight or first thing in the morning. The high rings don't seem any different to me. Cheers..

I love the 50mm scopes, after hunting in B.C. for year i've come very attached these scopes.
