So I bought an Axis 308 20" Heavy/Threaded barrel as I have been planning on for a while now.
My original intent was to swap out to the new Magpul Hunter Lite stock, mind was made up. But then along comes MDT with the Field Stock with an Axis inlet. So now I am second guessing myself. Cost and weight wise is a wash, both are so close that neither is a decider.
It will be a general purpose rifle, plinking and casual long range shooting.
Probably spend most time on a bench, tripod or otherwise supported due to my physical ability's.

Does anyone have any experience or input on either?

I kept the stock on my Axis original and learned how to shoot with it the way it was - it actually made me a better shooter because of this.

Not with either of those, but I dropped mine into a Boyds, pillar & epoxy bedded, it shoots 100% better than the factory stock. I've love it.

I appreciate the feed back from those with these stocks.
I have decided on the MDT. If I were doing offhand shooting I'd likely go with the Magpul but it will be on a bench/bipod or tripod for the most part and I think the MDT is better suited for that.
Will post up once I have it setup and get some rounds down range.

I have it all setup and first 15 rounds down the pipe.
Once I get 30 or so through I'll start working up a load but so far, at just a starting Varget (43Gr) load with the Hdy168's it is stacking rounds at 100yrd on steel. Looks promising.

This is the first CF rifle I have shot bigger than my .223 and I am pretty blown away how much more energy these 168's have on target.
My 75Gr 224 ELDMs swing the 6" gong a 200yrd back maybe 45*. The 308 ripped the gong right off of its rubber strap hanger. I thought maybe the strap was damaged so shot the 4" plate and same result, went flying back into the berm.
It was a little shocking.

Anyways, here it is. My budget general purpose/target rifle.

I have some 208Gr pills to load up too, looking forward to seeing the smack they bring.
Math says 1000ft/lbs+ more energy than a low recoil 12Ga slug. I know how hard they hit at 100yrd so this will be something to see.
