The Axis is what it is....an ugly cheap gun. One of the few benefits it has over the other ugly cheap guns is that it is light weight, fit and finish is relatively decent, action is smooth, and it's pretty accurate.
I'll kept my 7-08 Axis which was under $300 total new after MIR as is. The barrel only touches the stock if you apply some decent force to it, even then I doubt it would throw your shot off very much in a hunting situation. I like the light weight of it so I don't want to add parging cement or grout or whatever...yes the stock is cheap and ugly, but so is the rest of the gun lol. Can put all the lipstick you want on a pig...still gonna be a pig.
