Which one should i get? Axis obviously much cheapers but i dont mind spending a bit more for a quality rifle. This is just for range plinking so weight etc no real concern.

Thoughts? I have a Savage Mk2 allready in .22 and love it.

Like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus.

Both built by the same company one is just considerably more refined then the other.

So just have to ask yourself - do you want to "economically drive to work" or "do you want to drive to work in style".

It's really no more complicated than that.

Both will get you there and be reliable for many years if you take care...

I realize not a fair comparison however just didn't want to spend 400 on an axis and it be a big pos lol!
Thanks for the input.

I have had a few axis models ,IMO all really accurate , stock is pos feels cheap is cheap flex like crazy
but replace it with a boyd and you have something or diy it bed it solidify it with rods etc but then it isnt 400 anymore
they arent pretty but if the target is the aim they are hard to beat.
That being said the 12 especially with a precision heavy barrel you definitively know your shooting something substantial
and no mods needed accurate out of the box less recoil less barrel jump but much much heavier i have one up for sale
because of the weight too much for the bush but for range gun its a beast
safe shooting

I have a 223 Axis that I bought for shooting coyote's. Got it when they had the 50 buck rebate from Savage and it was on-sale for $299 to start with.

The trigger really sucked (as is often reported) - clipped about 3/4 of a curl from the spring and now it's "usable".

The stock was Coke bottles in a blue box probably a few days before it was molded. I removed the butt end and filled the entire thing with a can of low expansion spray foam (the kind you seal door and window frames with) - that stiffened it up and took away the hollow sound.

Just being a 223 I have not (yet) seen the need to stiffen up the forestock or bed it etc - it does shoot accurately and works "perfectly" for what I use it for.

I'm not a "brand snob" so it sits in the gun safe right next to my Weatherby's and my Browning - unlike many posters on this board, they don't make fun of it or call it names :)

PS - here's my (net) $250 Axis with a thousand bucks worth of Burris Veracity FFP scope topping it off - for this rig I spent the money where it would do the most good :)
