A while back I bought a Savage Axis .223... it was one of those package deals that came with a scope that was bore sighted etc.

Ok, it was a good deal and I bought what I didn't need.
I took it out and quickly realized I hated the damn thing!

The stock sucked, I couldn't get comfortable behind it.

The Action and Trigger was amazing, I loved that part of it. that was great. Just the stock.

Did some homework, looked around for a reasonable chassis system and came across MDT Engineered Accuracy.

I got it today and mounted my Axis action onto a very nice Chassis system. You get the chassis, you buy a magazine and then you mount your

own grip and stock onto it.

I did all that and got it together, man... let me tell you all... this is the difference. It fits perfectly now, You can taylor your stock to the chassis, put what you want

onto it... I just stuck a cheap collapsible onto it and it fits just right... now I've got a great action on a great body... and I can shoot it and feel comfortable behind

it.

The Chassis and mag cost me as much as the rifle and scope... but now... at least I can smile every time I pull the trigger... and the thing hits the bulls eye every time!

Now... about the company, great to deal with... great contact... fast shipping... good customer service. I love these guys!

All the best... Merry Christmas Gunnutz!

Garr.

harris style bipods legs fold towards muzzle, so you can preload the bipod. With the way his bipod is positioned as soon as you try to preload you'll fold the legs. Therefore its mounted backwards.
yes always load your bipods your groups will be getting even smaller my friend..

I have built up two target rifles on Axis actions and MDT LSS chassis, the first in .223, using a cheap Cabella's 4 - 14 scope shot a 200m group easily covered by my small finger fingernail! The second in 7.62 x 39mm using a heavy Savage barrel in .308, old chamber cut off and barrel re-chambered and threaded shot some old handloads I made up years ago with a 150grain round nosed flat point bullet put 5 rounds into a single hole at 100m.

The Axis, although an inexpensive rifle, I believe that it has a stiffer action that contributes to outstanding accuracy potential. The next project is to build one up in 6.5 Grendel as a test bed to see the accuracy potential of the cartridge and load development.

Great guns at a great price and the MDT products are very well made. They had some growing pains in the beginning but have proven themselves to put out an excellent product!

Looks good!
You have pushed me over the edge on getting one of these chassis..
Did you get the butt stock and pistol grip from MDT also?

Is there enough room in the mag. length to load long for the 75-80gr bullets like the Hornady A-max?

TIA

Not sure how to answer your question about the bullets as I have none of those... there is a lot of room in the mag though, it's quite a large magazine. Very good quality too and well worth the money. You won't regret this purchase, great product and great people to deal with.
I didn't buy the extra parts as I have a pile of this stuff laying around. Good luck... all the best. Garr.
