Savage axis Xp trigger

there are a lot of videos on you tube on how to do a pen spring mod. Me, I chose to do a riflebasix SAV-1 trigger. I have heard you can also cut one round off the spring you have now and can keep doing that in 1/2's until you get the tension you like. I just found it easier and possibly more consistent to buy a tried and true way of doing it.

I just installed a basix sav-1 trigger on my wifes axis and it went great. It took me an hour but Im really happy with the end result. It ended up costing 100 with shipping but well worth it. Lots of good youtube videos online for help too.

The only reason to rework the stock axis trigger is if you are too cheap to buy a basix or timney.

That said, if you bought an axis in the first place, cost was probably a factor... And reworking it is certainly a step up from stock.

I started with trying the trigger mod. A few coils were clipped off the spring and pass with a diamond file to smooth things up is all I did. When finished, my trigger measured 3 1/2 pounds. I am very pleased with the results.

I bought an Axis because there were no Stevens 200s to be found anywhere. :p
