It can compete with basic off the shelf rifles like a standard line Rem700 if you do your part.
Anything above the 600-700 price range and your not in the same bracket.
But you will have a great package for a 300 rifle.
 
Savage says they just grab a barrel form the bin. That same bin holds barrels that may end up on a $800 savage or a $250 axis. My axis (in 223) will shoot under an inch pretty easily as long as I dont screw up my shots. Out of the factory ammo I have tried superformance 53gr shoot the best at under an inch. My handloads shoot under an inch with ease. Was just shooting shotgun hulls today at 200 8 out of 10 were hits. Again I had to do my part.
 
Mines great, sub moa all day with hand loads, that's with the cheapy scope that came on it and synthetic un modded stock... For the cost of it.. Don't think about it just do it
