So my friend brought me a Savage B mag. are they all junk? The mag. won't feed more than 2 rnds. on a good day. The bolt take 2 men and a boy to close and binds almost all the time. Is it worth putting time into. He has about 1000 rnds. of ammo and nothing to shoot it in. Does anyone else make a rifle in this cal. ?

I have a Savage B.mag in 17 WSM and have never had any issues with it. Mine is the "pencil barrel". It is a bit funky on close, but after a few rounds you get use to pushing it in hard before turning down the bolt.

I have two magazines - they both feed fine for Winchester and Hornady ammo.

Never had any issues with mine or the mags.

ADDED
I did epoxy bed 2 carbon arrow shafts into the forend to stiffen it up thou. And I did the free upgrade (warranty) to the bolt handle from Savage.

My 17 WSM wouldn't fire as when you closed the bolt it basically did the same thing as holding the trigger down well closing the bolt took a long time to get it to stay cocked for a shot and I got trigger shy as I had no idea if it would fire or not.. The problem was I had it for 6 months before I tried to shoot it so couldn't go after the guy I got it from. But made the mistake of telling another guy and of course he blabs to the guy I got it from and I got called a liar and much else as it was supposed to be a new gun. Couple years later I finally found out it's problem and found out how to set the Accue Trigger on it and it's fine now.

Guy who you bought it from probably screwed with trigger adjustments and when it had issues he sold it.

Raton & Archer - I've got 3x Accutriggers and YES, if you set it too light you'll get a super trigger BUT it might only fire half the time. Polishing parts and replacing the 'return spring' with a Bic-half-spring is the way to get close to a good trigger.
