Looking to buy a barrel wrench I found one, but I have a hard time paying 50$ for something sold 1 hour south of here 22$. Anyone knows a good place to get gun smithing tools in Canada?
I will be needing one here in the near future. How ever I took out my AR multi tool and it looks like it might work for the barrel nut on my Savage. The part of the tool that is for the castle nut. Anyone ever tried this before?

Savage barrel nut wench, 20.00 OK 50.00 Stick it. I have one savage and when it came to removing the barrel nut I used a Box end wrench and some brazing rod pieces, Yep stuck those short brazing pieces in the gaps between the wrench and the nut and spun it off with no marks to the nut.
REALLY 50.00 FOR A STAMPED OUT PIECE OF STEEL IS UNBELIVABLE.
Bill
ok.
chek this out, its easyand thats how i did mine.
frst: find someone who have a jet cutter
next: give them that: ht tp://grabcad.c om/library/savage-barrell-nut-wrench-for-rebarreling-rifle
this is my own drawing and i allow anyone to use it and give them away to whoever wants it.
not for resale, sorry. do your own work, if you have a jet cutter you certainly have your own cad software
is you guys want to make a run, ask go-h20 and get a quote on that drawing made out of 1/4 steel.
Your wrench might need a way to put an extension on it. I have taken off about 30 Savage barrels with a fancy wrench they supplied me. I had to stick an old barrel on the end of it to get enough torque to get the nuts off.
The face of the nut is slightly rough, so it engages the face of the action and bites.
Once you get the nut off, run it on some emery paper to smooth the face. then it goes on and off easily.
well I just order one and plan to take the size get some done and sell them cheap to cover my cost. Would a plasma cutter make a nice enough job for that?
I just used 4 1" long pieces of key stock. Put one one each side then gave it a quick wrap with scotch tape to hold them in and spun it off with the boxed end of a 1 5/16" wrench. Worked pretty slick and would cost you less then $2 if you have the wrench.
Thinking of dropping the nut off at a the machine shop so they can cut me out a few tho if the price is right.
Plasma No. High-definition plasma, probably yes but few around, Waterjet is not cost effective on that part. Best solution is Laser.
$50 is reasonable btw, consider the time to deal with individual transactions/invoicing, relatively small market and keeping inventory, importing costs, half the people inquiring likely don't buy, its reasonable.
