Savage BAS/T interest.... we can get it!

Not sure the stock choice is the wisest for a precision rifle.

I think the stock works great multple adjustments to better fit the shooter, Length of Pull ,Adjustable Check Piece , Adjustable Reciol Pad and Adjustable Cant to name a few

that group size means nothing to me

how many groups did he shoot to get that ONE GOOD GROUP

just curious, that is the real story on accuracy

As much as I love Savage/Stevens and feel they shoot very accurately for a factory rifle, one hero group does not an average make nor a true indicator of what a rifle can average.

I have only had one factory barrel that would average under 1/2 min and that was a Stevens 223 (when it didn't get hot).

Otherwise, they shoot around the 5's to 7's as a good average out at 200yds. Still wonderful for a factory barrel but that is not what that one group is trying to imply.

About the only rifles that I have heard with good consistent groups under 1/2 min have been reports from the F class family of rifles. Maybe a bit more TLC in the manf??????? Maybe not even made by Savage?????

YMMV,

Jerry

I would vouch for the accuracy out-of-the-box with the Tikka Tactical. Both my Tik Tac .308.s could produce .2-.4 MOA groups all day long with 178 Amax bullets. Amazing, really. Bl-C2 and bullets kissing the lands....

What I got for an answer yesterday after checking around including Savage in Lakefield is that Savage is still waiting to see if the State department will allow this rifle to be exported due to the collapsible stock.

Time will tell.

That I find funny comming from you Jerry especially you did the same with your 6mm Mystic:rolleyes:

If you read the text of that article, you would see that I was very clear about its averages at various shooting distances. I never said that the group pictured was the average.

Big difference.

However, that group certainly catches your attention.

Obtunded, I was refering specifically to Savage/Stevens. You are definitely right and I have seem a few Tikkas do amazing things at 1000m. Great shooting rifles.

x2 I can honestly say this as well. It just keeps shooting the same hole with this same load. So does my 222 s-varmint and 7mm s-varmint, and could go on...........

Been happy with my F-class guns as well, they shoot .5 moa

I just finished reading a review in shooting times, resounding succes they said. The stock is rock solid and accuracy out of this world, only two stock(stock is modular with parts borrowed from ar-15) options right now and only in 308 for this year. Price was roughly 1800 american....

cabalas have them for 2000.00

Yup, saw two (both stock styles) in there when I visited last month.

Right at $2K if I recall:eek: (a savage at that price..I never thought I would see the day:confused:).

Heavy, very heavy rifle.

It certainly caught my interest, but then lost it very quickly when I handled it.

24" heavy fluted barrel PLUS the howitzer style brake, aluminum stock with accustock wedge, 10rd. magazine APPEARS similar to HS style mag. Big ugly scope rail 0 moa can be switched out for whatever as reciever is standard model 10.Weight 14#. Cabelas does have them in stock and has sold several 1899 BAS $1999 BAT.
