I would like to know why the tang area needs to be floated on savage rifles. I understand that the tang area isn't bolted like a remington so why would it matter if it was bedded under the tang.

it doesn't. I have done it both ways on the same rifle to see what would happen.

A grand total of nothing changed.

If the recoil lug and areas around the action screws are properly done, the action is fully supported. Whether you bed the tang or not is entirely up to you. Same goes for around the mag well.

Personally, I prefer to bed it as I don't like seeing that gap everytime I am behind the trigger.

In most stocks, the tang area is about 1/4" square. If you think this amount of area can affect your action harmonics, better start weighing them primers...

Well I'm not sure but reading from a few reviews, it's not perfectly machined all around or something...

I can't wait for my 10FCP

I'm waiting for a recoil lug from SSS. Then I can swap barrels and bed this action and start shooting!!!

OH BOY!

I stumbled on this.

I prefer the twin syringe epoxy steel by lepages. You find this at Cdn Tire, home hardware, any home building supply place.

Some will carry devcon. Works great too.

I just like the faster cure time of the Lepages.

I use PVA which you can find at any fibreglass supplier. Some have used pam, and shoe polish. I am going with products designed as mold release agents.

I would strongly recommend bedding an HS stock or any alum chassis stock or any 'drop in' stock. Haven't met one that didn't have very generous dimensions. Degrease, rough up the surface, even drill some shallow dimples. It all helps the epoxy stick.

No difference for bedding the new center feed mag actions. If you get really into bedding, you can even bed the bottom metal. Not that it will do much but you will know that everything that can be done has been done.

Enjoy guys...

Is there any other mag format? Bad boy, bad boy....

No diff, just clean up the epoxy that flows into the mag well before it goes rock hard. I am guessing you can pull that mag box out of the stock. Otherwise, just a bit of tape to keep things clean.
