Really like my Savage B22, except to find out quick how many cartridges are in the magazine.
Thought I'd share my solution. Probably not the first to do it, but ... picture below is most of the explanation.
I removed the back plate from the magazine, easy just 2 screws. Comes apart easy, spring is preloaded with about a 3/4 turn.
Center punch pattern, pilot drill with #44 bit or similar. Final hole size is 5/32". Deburr/Chamfer by hand with drill bit slightly larger than 5/32". Both sides.
Reassemble. Done.
