In searching for a new rifle, my research has led me to look at muzzleloaders. I looked at the Savage 10ML and then saw the bolt action rifled slug gun Savage also has on their web site.
So, my question is pros/cons of each? Also, comparison of: effective range, versatility, game options, rate of barrel twist (Savage doesn't have this info on their site for the bolt slug gun?
I have a pump action slug gun and originally I was looking for a potential moose gun. My effective range with the pump is somewhere between 100-150yds. Will the longer barrel and bolt action improve my effective range?
I Live in Southern Ontario so the muzzleloader may also open up additional options to get in additional deer draws. My research initially started thinking my pump wasn't "moose material" and I started with the 270WSM, then looked at the 7MM rem mag, and now it seems full circle back to either a Muzzleloader or Bolt action shotgun?
Thoughts, comments, suggestions?
