Savage BVSS vs Remington VTR which is the better rifle?

Yes,the model 12BVSS is a very good rifle for just under thousand. I have one in22-250 non-adjustable standard trigger (older model).changed the heavy stock to Major John Plaster full aluminum pillar bed ult var syn stock by choate with bushnell 4200 6x24x50mm tac 30mm tube,using surplus umc ammo it hit less 2 inch groups at 300 prone.

I am no expert marksman or F-Class shooter, just do it for fun, but I can tell you from personal experience that a Savage 12BVSS in either .223 or .22-250 is much more then just an, "inexpensive factory gun that is fine for hunting, hitting tin cans at 100 yards and dressing them up to make them look like they should shoot better than they really do". This gun is an extremely accurate rifle well beyond 100 yards.

Steve,
Couldn't agree more. I have seen guys shooting stock Remington police models with no modifications outshoot guys shooting rifles such as Accuracy International, PGW, Tac Ops, Customs Remingtons... All these guys were men who shoot for a living. It gets to a point where the shooter is the most important variable, especially when you are not shooting in a sterile enviroment from a bench under ideal conditions. I do agree that a custom gun will be less of a hit and miss as far as consistency goes than a mass produced factory gun but to say they that they are what obtunded indicated is a stretch. He is in the business of selling barrels so I wouldn't expect any different. I would likely say the same thing. A good portion of LE snipers in Canada and the US still use stock Remington police models as their duty gun. There is a trend where more are using custom rifles now but the Rem is still very prominent. This is a stock rifle used in real life situations, not hunting or punching holes in paper and has performed admirably.

Dan, you go ahead and ask questions that have been asked and answered here however many thousand of times. There are some who will chime in to chastise you for not using the search or assume that you have been on this site reading all of the ongoing posts as they happen. Don't worry about them, some of us will still respond in a reasonable, respectful manner.

Thank=you :)
There are those that just don't have patience for newbies or even old-bies like me that maybe couldn't remember what was said in past threads, or maybe wasn't paying attention as wasn't interested at particular moment, & the search button is a hit-&-miss kinda deal. Good thing those guys are gunsmiths & not rock stars, I can't imagine how cranky they'd get the 10,000th time they had to sing their hit song :D

Savage :slap:

A nice wood stock vs tacti-cool plastic :redface:

I shot Savage 12 bvss and she shot great, I took 3 shot with a guy's LTR and didn't like the stock feel, and it didn't track well
