Hi All. Just finished some load development for my short range project. I picked up a 6mmbr Savage fluted large shank from a fellow CGNer and some 80gr bergers from another a short time ago.

I did some searching and considered keeping the br but went the 243 win route. Why, I had the dies, brass, etc readily on hand. Didn't want to pony up the cash to retool. The barrel had reportedly 400 rounds down when spun off. It is in a 1-12 twist barrel so I chose the lighter rounds for 300m work. I did some research on the 6br site for some enlightenment and advice.

I then had Gunrunner8 rechamber and re-thread the barrel. And I had him touch up the crown for good measure. It is shot off my f-class sporter platform with a 8x32 vortex. The receiver is a savage 10.

Sure, it may not be a 6BR and have long barrel life. But I will enjoy each shot down range until it gives up the ghost. Below are some results at the range. I will have fun running the F class potential out of this one. :D

Found a lower node at 41.0 gr and tested at 300m. Also tested the best node at 42.3 and it is a keeper. No velocity for the higher node as the chrony didn't have enough light at the time as I was shooting in the very early AM.

Can a Savage factory barrel shoot...I'll let you decide. Now I just have to keep the form up and those shots to the right may want to mingle with the rest.:p

sorry, at this time, my final match will be Raton in Sept.

too much time away from family and work.

I sure hope Kamloops pushes out to 800m. That would be so awesome.

Swirling winds at LR. Now that would be way too much fun

Yes, that is wonderful news. I wish you guys great weather to put the final touches in before the frost hits.

I am unsure how much shooting you have done beyond 500m, but things get so much more interesting and FUN....

A very long shot but maybe for the Vbulls end of Oct but there is another business trip in the works and......

enjoy the range and small groups. At 800m, you might prefer a higher BC and a bigger bullet :)

Looks like a shooter. I print off the same targets, they are good ones. The bottom one I have used at 300-700 yards and it works well.

For longer distances I have a 260rem ready Jerry, and am running the 130 bergers around 2950fps. I have not shot an 800m yet so it will be a new experience there for sure. This tube will take some pressure off the 260 for the short game.

Elkhuntr, I noticed that your groups are mostly horizontal so your SD is quite good but unless you were fighting strong winds there is potential for small improvement. Good luck at shooting match in October.
