just looking for a little info from you savage guru's out there

I have a savage FCP -SR 308 with a fluted 20 in barrel and what I am wondering is has savage ever produced a similar rifle in 223 .I can find them with a 24 in barrel but not 20

I am looking to buy something as similar to my 308 as I can get

thanks

Where did you find a Savage FCP in 223? I have been looking for one for ages. Not bothered about the fluted barrel. Ta.

Just curious how is 4" at the business end going to make a difference in how it shoots? The only real world difference will be a loss of about 100 fps at the muzzle.

I also have the FCP-K in 223 and I agree it is a great gun to shoot. I thought about selling it many times because I don't shoot it often but it's the one gun I know if I sell I will regret it immediately.

Absolutely love Savages, barrel swaps are easy, triggers are great, but I did need to do an extractor upgrade to fling the brass.

This is my .223 Savage Hog Hunter (was 469.00), years ago I wanted back up irons, 20" barrel, threaded matt heavier barrel, and in .223, there was nothing out there. Loved my .308 rifles, but as I never shoot past 500 yards, don't hunt larger game, the cost made no sense, besides I have 2 other rifles in .223, so I sold them.

Well before the Scout Rifle craze I put this trunk gun together. Bought aluminum bedded Savage stock for 50.00, installed a cheek riser, bipod scope, I had, added a 20mm rail 40.00, factory detachable bottom metal and mag for 80.00.

I shoot with it just fine against much more expensive rifles. My ex-army buddy shoots my Savage way better than I can. :( He is a Remmy 700 guy, but does like my budget build.

Now he has a Savage .17 HMR as I do for gopher flinging, so the .223 doesn't get as much of a rodent work out. :(

Ready for a truck ride in the woods.

My Fugly Savage build.

119 yards with a dime in the pic, in the wind, off a bench, with cheap factory 62 grain ammo, didn't anyone else doing this that day. :)

My .17 Savage.
