savage FCP rifle

I just noticed this on savages site also, haven't checked the law enforcement section in a while.

If your planning on shooting in compititions don't get something with a muzzle brake. They are normally not allowed.
I myself prefer the 12F/TR.

I have 2 FCP Mcmillan's in .308. I'm gonna take the barrel off of 1 and cut it down to 20" and replace the other with a 6.5x47 barrel I have on order with mysticplayer. The .308 with the stock 24" barrel is shooting really well with no ammo playing yet. I shot a 10 shot group that was .750" at 100 and I know it can do better because I've been out of it for awhile. Too busy it seems.

Update: just tried my friend's FCP McMillan for a good 40 rounds - barrel needs to get warmed up a lot before groups start tightening up. I took it out at -15C and shots were going all over the place until I went through 8 rounds, but accuracy was very good thereafter (a bit under an 1"@100y without rear bag, clover leaf with rear bag). This was surprising since I didn't notice the same issue with my rifle - might be because the Savage has a thicker barrel profile than mine (more metal to warm up), or lack of fluting? Who knows, but it was a pleasure to shoot once it got settled in.

You won't regret buying it.
