Not finding anything related in a Search, I ask the Forum readers: Have you had any experience in having a front sight on a Savage MK II FVT slide out of the barrel front sight dovetail groove? (or come loose?).
2 months ago I experienced my front sight complex falling to the ground after laying the rifle down on its port/left side. The repair was relatively easy (big hammer), and the sight has not moved since the event. Today at a local Fun Shoot, another MK II FVT exhibited the same problem (the front sight in entirety loosened off to the point that it slid to the left, almost free of the barrel front sight dovetail groove).
There were 2 other FVTs at the shoot today, and, when checked, had tight front sights. No problem.
Are these 2 incidents merely coincidental? Or have others experienced same?
