savage help please

I have a chance to get a savage fp take off stock. Will it fit on my 12fv?

I want to try and customize the fp to replace the fv.

They're both the cheap Tupperware but are they interchangable?

The barrel channel, at least, on the FP will be bigger. Otherwise it should fit.

Why is the barrel channel bigger and will that affect performance?

From what I've read on the Savage website, they are exactly the same rifle but the fp has 6 inches cut off the barrel.

Savage short actions

You will likely be fine,recent Savages use only two action lengths,but be warned there were some earlier short actions of a different length.

You have to make sure that you use staggered mag action and stock. Or center feed actions/stocks.

If this is a newer center feed stock, it will need to be modified to work.

Otherwise, they are all the same.
