Hey guys,

I'm thinking about buying a Savage Hog Hunter in .223, and its main use will be coyote hunting (guess I'll rename it "Dog Hunter"). Does anyone on here have one in either caliber (.223, .308 or .338 WIN) that can comment on the gun and maybe post some pictures of the gun if you have one. I'd love to see one mounted with a scope and muzzle break !

Thanks

Its good bang for the buck but it has its flaws.

The stock is pretty weak and flimsy and less than ideal for shooting off of a bipod or bags.

The iron sights are likely not going to benefit you any for your intended purpose.

The lack of a detachable mag is something that makes a difference to me, but not others.

To solve all of these issues I went with a Savage 10 Precision Carbine. Basically the same barrelled action but with detachable mag and Accustock as well as the nice camo finish.

All around though I think for what you are getting the Hog Hunter is a pretty good deal.

I have one on 338 and other than the calibre they all look the same and I don't have pictures. I am hoping we get silencers and thn the threaded barrel will come in handy

I was also thinking about the Precision Carbine but I think i'm going to upgrade the stock on the Hog Hunter. The quick detach magazine isn't important to me, I like them but I would rather have the internal magazine for dog hunting because in the heat of the moment its easy to put the magazine in wrong and not chamber rounds. I was thinking id put quick detach rings on the gun just so that I can mess around with target shooting with Irons.

Thanks for the input !

I have one in 223 it is great, open sights are bang on at 200 with my current hand load. Easily a moa to sub moa gun, I run a fixed 10x and a 1-4 on the rifle in quick detach rings. It is a good deal. Pm me if you want anymore specifics.

just want to warn you one thing:the internal mag really sucks. I would recommend MVT series or just get the jw105

What are they selling for?
