Hi everybody, I'm looking for some info on an old savage. The gun has definitely seen better days, but I saved it from the chopping block out of curiosity. It's missing the stock forearm but otherwise seems complete.
It's a lever action savage. It is stamped:
"Savage Arms Co. Utica N.Y. U.S.A.
Patented Feb 7 1893, July 25 1893 Cal. 303"
Serial: 149xx
I've read this is a model 1895. Is this correct?
Also, it seems to be a single shot. Is that correct or am I missing something?
Here's some pics, sorry about the poor quality.
If you can give me any information on this gun it would be appreciated. I don't know if I will try to find some 303 savage and attempt to shoot it. The bore is hard to judge because it's filled with cobwebs
