hey Fellas,

Has anyone got any info on this gun? I found one for cheap, brand new. I have been trying to get a remington SPS TAC in .223 but there are none close to me for the price i want to pay...

Kinda courous if its a SA(4.25") so taht i can up grade the stock if i deam so. But i'm liking the thumbhole modle alot. From what i can find its got a 1/9 twist same as the TAC and a heavy barrel.

But Any opinions would be great. I will be using it for target and yote's.

Thanks guys.

i like savages but iv never shot the "lightwieght" varmint,

i know its a different action than the larger center fires, if i had a choice i would go with a model 10 or a model 12 action, i think they are just stronger actions

the lightwieght varmint is cheaper but in my experience you get what you pay for

if its just for hunting it would probably suit your needs, but target shooting is a whole other thing if your going to be serious about it

The action is a different diameter and screw spacing from the standard Savage action.
It has a 1-9" twist removeable magazine and three forward locking lugs, the one that I had proved to be accurate and very smooth to operate.
Options? No extended magazines and you cant swap out the barrel, it is pinned in place.
