I just got a Precision Target single shot action. It didn't come with the 3 action screws needed. Is my best option to order the screw set from SSS, or would other screws (say from a bolt store) work? Are they torx, or Allen wrench, or what?

Did you buy it from a store or was it a private sale? If it was from a store I would most definitely go back to them. If it was a private sale then I would check with a local gun shop or gunsmith to see if they may have what you need before ordering them.

Someone local just might have what you need.

I bought it privately, I'll try the gun stores and gunsmiths, that's a good suggestion. Does anybody know what length and tpi they are?

Same thread as a Rem. That should get you lots of options. Just remember to cut the bolt to fit the stock so it doesn't stick into the action.

You can shoot that action with only two action screws.

Get the head you want and cut to length, buy 1.75. If you want an oval head buy flat head socket and reshape the head in a lathe, or if you don't have a lathe, in a drill press or drill using a file.
