Hey guys, hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a savage axis in 30-06(long action) that i would like to get or make a 10 rd mag for. Seen online a few companys and tinkerers who make for short action 308, but want to know if anyone knows if they make and sell these for a 30-06.

If not, what mag would you recomend to buy, metal, that would work for me to toy with and see if i can get it to work.

I ask for 2 reasons, 1. I have big mits and removing the mag is sometimes a pain and wish consistantly to have a m14 style high cap mag to grip on. 2. I like the look better when i see a mag coming out of a gun, rather than flush.

any advice?

I have a couple savages but not an axis, not sure the differences between the axis and 110

but these may be an option, CDI makes some stuff for savage too, worth checking out

In my year+ of owning my Axis, the only mags I've seen anywhere are the original ones sold by Savage.

Keep in mind, this is a hunting rifle, and a big mag sticking out gets in the way. It digs into your back when on a sling, can't comfortably carry it on one shoulder without a sling (middle of rifle on the shoulder, holding onto the front of the stock, muzzle pointed forward) because the balance point is right under the mag, plus it runs the risk of snagging on branches and ####.
