Hi i am fairly new to posting around these parts. Been here reading for a while though. I have been searching this site for the past hour and can't find the info i need. I bought a new Savage mark 2 around christmas time. The only shells it will shoot reliably are american eagles. For some reason most spent cartridges get stuck in the chamber. Had a gunsmith tighten the extractor clips on the bolt. It sure does grip the shell good now but you really have to pull hard to get the shell out. Sometimes the clips even fall off the shell you have to pull so hard. I used to have another mark2 that did the same thing. Just thought it was time for a new one. Guess what same deal. Kinda got me wondering about savage's quality. If anyone has any insight on how to repair my problem it would be greatly appreciated.

It's under warranty - get it fixed.

What do the shells look like - scratches or dents indicating a rough chamber?
Try scrubbing the chamber with a brass brush and Hoppes, see if there is still shipping grease.
CCI Stingers are longer than usual .22LR. and could cause problems.

Ya i know it's warranty but it takes so looonnngg to get it back. Just thought maybe i could fix it up. Shell's look fine. No indication of a rough chamber. Maybe i'll give it a good cleaning and try running the brush through the chamber a bunch. Thanks

Well i ran a brush through the chamber a bunch with some g96 and and then some hoppes. Gave her a good cleaning and tried it out. Everything seems to be o.k. now. I guess i'll have to wait and see if she starts to gum up again. Only my new one does it. I have another one that the wife uses and her's seems to be fine? Only time will tell.
